New Year Resolutions

     This is a great time of year to resolve to be more active.  It is one of the most common New Year's resolutions and often broken quickly.  More than 15% of all American school children are overweight or obese.  Children spend more and more time in front of TV's, computers and other screens. It is important to make physical activity a priority as these habits may stick with children into adulthood. 
     Talk with your children to find out what age appropriate activities they may enjoy.  Some kids like organized sports while others may find martial arts, walking or swimming more their style.  Demonstrate a healthy lifestyle for your children including exercise and good nutrition.  Children often model behavior they see in adults. Choose toys that encourage physical activity such as jump ropes, balls, skateboards, bikes scooters.  Be safe and don't overdo it, especially if the activity is new
